Veterans Honor Flight of Southern Illinois and Rides Mass Transit District have teamed up to provide transportation to and from several parking locations to Veterans Airport of Southern Illinois for the October 17 Honor Flight Welcome Home event.
“Due to the overwhelming response from the public in welcoming our Veterans home after the Inaugural Flight this past April, we will offer public parking at four off-site parking locations,” stated Nancy Brown, Vice-Chairman of Veterans Honor Flight of Southern Illinois. “We have secured off-site parking at Rent One Ballpark, Cornerstone Church & Sam’s Club, Community of Faith Church and John A Logan College with transportation service through Rides Mass Transit District.”
Buses will depart the parking locations approximately every 15 minutes beginning at 5 p.m. Members of the public can access the buses by being at the marked pickup locations at the front of the designated parking locations. All buses are ADA accessible.
“We are extremely grateful to partner with Rides Mass Transit, Rent One Ballpark, Cornerstone Church, Sam’s Club, Community of Faith and John A Logan College” stated Bryan Questelle, Chairman of Veterans Honor Flight of Southern Illinois. “Their support will help ease the traffic congestion we experienced for the Welcome Home in April, which will allow everyone a chance to attend our event and welcome our Veterans home. “
