2 September 2017 10 AM Veterans Airport All guardians who have not previously attended Guardian Training with Veterans Honor Flight are required to attend. Any guardians who have already received training are also welcome and encouraged to attend. Guardians who have not completed training will not be permitted to accompany veterans on Flight 2.

96.5 Cents Per Dollar Go Directly to Veterans
Following the successful completion of the Inaugural Flight in April 2017, Veterans Honor Flight of Southern Illinois has completed an internal financial review and is pleased to announce that of monies expended, 96.5 cents of every dollar was in direct benefit of a veteran. Brian Questelle, Chairman of the Board, said, "I was impressed by the low overhead of just 3.5 cents per dollar, which covers our printing, insurance, and other costs. This was accomplished because no one involved with Veterans Honor Flight receives any compensation for their personal expenditures." Flight 2 Set for October 17
Veterans Honor Flight of Southern Illinois is proud to announce Flight 2 has been scheduled for Tuesday, October 17, 2017. After just a few months, generous donations have made it possible to schedule a second flight in 2017. A larger, A320 aircraft will be used for Flight 2, expanding availability to 65 veterans. Flight 2 Announcement Date Set
Veterans Honor Flight of Southern Illinois will announce the next Honor Flight date on Wednesday, June 14 (Flag Day) at 10am in the terminal building at Veterans Airport of Southern Illinois, located on Route 13 west in Marion. “Due to the overwhelming response and support for the Inaugural Flight this past April, the Executive Board has decided to schedule a second trip in 2017, rather than waiting until 2018” stated Nancy Brown, Vice-Chairman of Veterans Honor Flight of Southern Illinois. “We have secured the aircraft and will be able to send 65 veterans to Washington D.C. to visit the memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifice.” “I am extremely excited about the support we have received thus far” stated Bryan Questelle, Chairman of Veterans Honor Flight o [...Read more]

The Honor Flight program is a nationwide network dedicated to providing all veterans who apply a free trip to Washington D.C. to visit memorials honoring their service and sacrifice. Veterans Honor Flight of Southern Illinois is an established 501c3 non-profit hub of the Honor Flight network. They are planning of flight of veterans from Southern Illinois to Washington D.C. in the Fall of 2017. All expenses for this one day trip are covered by Veterans Honor Flight of Southern Illinois including the flight, ground transportation, meals and beverages. Veterans Honor Flight of Southern Illinois works toward first flight
MARION — Veterans Honor Flight of Southern Illinois is looking for donors, veterans, guardians and volunteers.
Honor Flight Network is a nonprofit network of organizations created to honor American veterans by transporting them to Washington, D.C., to visit war memorials. Of the 16 million Americans who served in World War II, only 620,000 were alive in 2016, and they are dying quickly. The National World War II Museum estimates that 372 World War II veterans die each day.
Priority is given to World War II veterans and veterans who are terminally ill.
